For our final outing of the year we certainly had the best weather of the week. The sun shone brilliantly and the Dale looked at its best.
Five members met, well wrapped up against a strong wind. We followed the path downstream but saw very few birds, ( unlike last year) a few Mallard on the river, Gulls and Jackdaws in the meadows , a lone Wren on a post and , as we returned, a Goosander.
If we couldn’t study bird life, we enjoyed looking at the mature Chestnut and Lime trees along the path.
On our return to Buckden, we adjourned for lunch at The Buck having had a most enjoyable outing. Let’s hope for more birds in 2025.
As a post script one member saw a Barn Owl in Kettlewell on the return journey.
