About Local History Group
The Local History and Vernacular Buildings Group now act as one unit and the combined programme is shown on the Local History and Vernacular Buildings page. Although we may not be specialised historians, or even active in the field of research, we are a group who seek to study and promote the history of our local environment in Upper Wharfedale, and, recently, the area around Bowland. Wherever possible, we arrange field trips, and attend day-courses or lectures in order to acquaint ourselves with local knowledge. With the Vernacular Buildings Study Group we share a special interest in studying the historical associations of local buildings, since ‘sticks and stones’ can never tell the whole story. The Summer Programme of Visits can be found on the Vernacular Buildings Page of this website.February 2021
